San Antonio Ice Cream

Looking for awesome ice cream in San Antonio? We have just the place for you. It's called Brindles and they make their own ice cream. It’s a great place for kids because many of their flavors are bright blue, orange or some other nontraditional color. The flavor is surely above store grade. They also carry Sherbert for anyone who is in to that kind of thing.

You’ll need to bring a few extra dollars for ice cream here but it’s worth it. 3 scoops for Brandon, 3 Scoops for Bradley and 2 scoops for me and it came to about $14. Hey, we were on vacation! This is surely the spot to bring people for a celebration or a once in a while treat.

Stop by and try it. You won’t be disappointed.

You can find them at 11255 Huebner Suite 210, San Antonio, TX 78230 or call them at 210-641-5222

Is San Antonio Texas Recession Proof?

Every time I turn on the news I hear we are in a recession. Job options in my area are a joke. I expect the majority of the country is in the same boat. California is probably the worse. However, as I drive through San Antonio, Texas all I see is expansion. Take Loop 1604 for example. Not too long ago, Loop 1604 was the way to get around San Antonio without having to go through the city. Now it's part of the city.

From the Front
Everywhere you look there are new businesses and residential areas going up. SA continues to expand despite what the rest of the county is doing. Even now, it is expanding major intersections on the outside of town to allow more traffic.

While we were in San Antonio we visited the Palladium. It's the IMAX directly across from Six Flags. There are a couple of large scale projects being built right next door. Also, there is a new, um, "village" across the street. The place looks awesome. It's like taking a trip to the Mediterranean. It's called Eilan. This place is the size of a small town. I love it. I wish I could live in it. Eilan is perfectly located and the atmosphere is relaxing. This place is a prime example of the type of upgrades the city is building.

From the back
Eilan has places to live, shops, restaurants, and according to my kids a 5 star hotel. We had a good time walking around the place. I suggest you stop by if you get the chance.

Review of the Drury Hotel in San Antonio.

View from our room at the Drury Hotel
I chose the Drury Hotel in San Antonio for 3 reasons: The reviews from hotels.com was 4.7 and rated the customer service as stellar, The view from the pictures looked great and the rooms appeared to be more than spacious with separate rooms for sleeping and hanging out. 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.

The most important reason in my mind was the customer service. They delivered this in full. Everyone except for one staff member always had a smile on their face and everyone was always polite. They went out of their way to be sure any request we had was fulfilled. It is no doubt this team had been drilled with “the customer comes first.”

I was disappointed in the overall size of the room. There are 5 of us in the family and not everyone always wants to do what the others are doing. I had expected something a little bigger. The beds took up most of the room.

The view was great. Upon request when I arrived they changed my room to one with a view. We were placed on the top floor and had a chance to look over the pool area and the surrounding country side. Even the view from the pool is great. You can sit in the hot tub and look over part of San Antonio. That’s cool.

Some side notes. Take the free drinks they offer between 5:30 and 7:00 at night. Skip the free food. It’s horrid. If you have an issue, don’t hesitate to ask. I don’t believe they change the sheets everyday unless you pull them all off the bed; which seems to be standard hotel policy everywhere now.

Relax in San Antonio, Texas

Need a place to relax? San Antonio, Texas may be the place for you. Sure, there is a whole lot of traffic during rush hour but the traffic is better of then you probably would imagine. Even though San Antonio is the seventh largest city in the United States, it does not show up on the top 25 worst cities for traffic; according to the INRIX. So, why is SA so relaxing?

The people make all the difference. Everywhere you turn people are naturally friendly and helpful. Yes, there are always a few who ruin it no matter what you go but SA seems to have less of them. When coming from a region not known for its hospitality, it can be surprising. On our last visit, I took my son to an awesome ice cream store called Brindles. When we left, he said, “That’s the best ice cream store in the world. The lady was so helpful!” Did my son focus on how great the ice cream tasted? No. He was blown away about the attitude he encountered from the people working there. We could give many examples just like this one all over the city.

The weather is usually warm. The average temperature in January is 68 degrees Fahrenheit and 96 degrees in August. If you’re coming from up North, what better way to help relax then to have sunshine warm your bones? I almost froze one year in New Hampshire and I remember thinking to myself, “If I can just get into a hot tub, I could finally get warm. The heat from the Texas sun can have the same desired effect.

If you’re a first time tourist, you are probably heading towards the San Antonio riverwalk. Walking along the water gives you experience of new and historical surroundings. The landscaping and the atmosphere really create a pleasant walking experience.

Last thing is the cost of living. This helps release some of the stress on the amount of money you spend on vacation.

A Great Place for a Massage in San Antonio Texas

Pinnacle Wellness
We were driving along loop 1604 when we saw a small sign advertising massages for $19 an hour. We figured there must be a catch but we called to check it out. Turns out, it is a full body massage by a licensed professional for only $19 an hour.

This is an introductory rate for Pinnacle Wellness. They specialize in chiropractic wellness. The massage is there way of having people come in and check out their services. They do offer their additional services during your visit. However, there was no high pressure sales feel about it and I left without feeling bad for saying no. It's not that I didn't like the place. I just don't live in the area. If I lived in the area and need a chiropractor, I'm sure I would have set appointments.

Beside Chiropractor services, they also offer many workshops. The workshops cover a wide range of preventive medicine type subjects, like

09/04/12 THE WELLNESS PARADIGM
□ 09/18/12 MIND OVER MATTER
□ 10/02/12 LOSE 15 LBS IN 15 WEEKS
10/16/12 DISCOVER YOUR FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
10/30/12 INCREASE YOUR ENERGY BY 300%
 11/13/12 TOXIC FREE HOME
□ 11/27/12 ALKALINE VS ACIDIC
□ 12/11/12 EAT TO HEAL

If you are interested in living well to prevent future medical issues, I would recommend stopping by for the $19 massage and hear what they have to say.

In addition, I also like the way they are not ashamed of being Christian business owners.

Introduction to San Antonio Texas

San Antonio, Texas has been the fastest growing large city in the United States for the past several years. If you were to visit this Texas metropolis, you would quickly understand why. A San Antonio offer a little of everything and its cost of living is quite affordable compared to other large cities like New York and Los Angles.

Here are 3 options you may want to consider while visiting or living in San Antonio.

You can follow along with the NBA and route for the spurs. They have been one of the most dominating teams in recent NBA history. The spurs current home arena is the ATT Center. The arena holds 18,000 screaming fans.

Visit some amusement parks. There are two main attractions to choose from; Sea World and Six Flags. Sea World is known for its shows. Of course, most of these are structured around the water. Six Flags is more about the rides. Six flags has many more rides than Sea World and also had more of the thrill seeker ride like Superman and Screamer. The shows from Six Flags are not worth mentioning. However, at times they are known to have a good concert or two.

Tour the Riverwalk. The river walk is located in center of San Antonio. It provides a nice area for walking and taking in scenery. Also, built along the riverwalk are restaurants, hotels, businesses, and a mall. This helps to increase the attraction and provided visitors with more things to do.

Learn about the Alamo. Who isn’t interested in a group of people who die for a cause? It always makes for a good story. Take 300 or Braveheart for example. I understand some historians disagree on what really happened in certain aspects but the base line remains the same. A group of people would not surrender their fort to a larger enemy even though there was no chance of winning; all in the name of freedom.
